Ruin

I built a world around you
Sprawling citadels and walls
which climbed higher and higher
Until I could no longer
see the sky. And I begged
you to tear it down

But you could still see
the beauty in this place.
And so it fell to me
to wield the tools
to raze it to the ground
While you fled for safety

Now here I stand amidst
a ruin where forgotten plans
litter the ground. Still,
there are moments when
the sun glints through
fractured glass, and there is hope
that I will build anew
